Take Care Your Body

Cikgu: Please take CARE your body

Cikgu (Teachers), if you want to teach longer as you thought, you better take care your body from now on. Why and how to do it? Please read this article carefully and try your best to practice it.

Diseases are caused by “weight pain, high sugar uptake, excessive eating, smoking and pressure.” Diseases are our own choice, and it’s up to us to decide whether to fall sick or be healthy.

Why must we have healthy body? The answer is very simple, if we are unhealthy, we will suffer from various diseases in our old age, and life would be meaningless even if we live long. We have a prospect towards the entire society, i.e. to cultivate a health preserving culture for the health of all, reduce diseases caused by life habits, and save medical cost which is very expensive nowadays. This if for the purpose of achieving a disease-free, happy and long life society.

According to the Victoria Declaration initiated by WHO in 1992, “if you wish to live healthily, you must adhere to the following 4 main health cornerstones: reasonable diet, appropriate exercise, quit smoking and restrict alcohol, maintain a balance state of mind.

The best doctor in the world: Self-healing ability

As early as 2,500 years ago, Hippocrates (460BC-377BC), the Father of Medicine had stressed that, “human body has the ability to restore health”. Such ability is the ‘doctor’ for a patient, and this ‘doctor’ merely helps human body to develop its own self-healing ability.

The new health maxim for the 21st century is “the best doctor is own self, the best prescription is knowledge, and the best medication is food”.

Happy School Holiday To All Teachers

Teachers/Cikgu/Guru/LaoShi/SinSe:
Planning for Your School Holidays

Budget Holiday Ideas
Long school holidays can get expensive and teachers need to be clever and prepared so that they do not end up blowing the entire year’s budget on keeping their children busy for a month. Even staying at home can feel like an exciting outing as long as you use a little imagination. Have an outdoors day where you picnic in the garden, plant some flowers, play hide and seek and just stay outside all day. Going indoors in the evening is like coming home after a long day out.

Take your kids to work with you one day if this is allowed. Take along pens and colouring books and when you can, show your child around so that they can learn about what you do all day. There are many other outings that you can go on that do not cost a fortune. Examples, take a novel train trip to the beach for a picnic, and explore the rock pools and build sand castle. Head out to your local parks to play and find a river or lake where you can feed the ducks and the fish. Go to story time at your local library and then let your children choose their own books to take home.

Take a drive to the forest or botanical gardens nearest to your house. Read your children a book about a forest or magical garden and then let them make up their own story in amongst the trees. If your children are a little older, have a day of cooking where they can plan and execute everything. Let them plan the menu, go shopping with you and learn how to cook their chosen meal. They then have to set the table and serve dinner – this is a great way for them to learn and be kept busy for a whole day!

Hope all the teachers in Malaysia have a good plan for their holidays and enjoy their holidays as well.

How To Release Hypertension

Teachers: Learn how to release hypertension

HYPERTENSION, or high blood pressure, is called the “silent killer” because sufferers really experience symptoms. Yet, it kills millions of people every year. You can feel perfectly fine until you visit your doctor for a regular check-up.

The Malaysian Society of Hypertension announced last month that some 43 per cent of Malaysians aged over 30 have high blood pressure. Analysis shows that Malays make up 34 per cent, followed by the Chinese (32 per cent) and Indians (29 per cent).

There are dozens of reasons why your blood pressure might be too high. One common cause is ageing. Other factors include eating too much salt, not exercising enough, smoking, eating too much saturated fat, obesity, drinking too much alcohol, and some illnesses such as diabetes. Temporary hypertension can also be caused by pregnancy, taking certain types of medicines and fever.

If you are diagnosed with high blood pressure, treatment depends very much on the root cause. Your doctor may prescribe special medications or simply a change in diet and exercise.

If high blood pressure runs in the family, you can take preventative care by keeping a low-fat diet, and by monitoring the amount of salt and MSG in your diet.
